With all local authorities across England facing a social care crisis, Surrey County Council appears to have come up with an innovative solution; build 600 new homes for the county's elderly and disabled.

Details are scarce at this stage, but the plan is reported to save Surrey County Council around £4,600 a year for each person receiving care or nursing support.

It will be interesting to see how this plan develops and what impact it has on adult social care provision in Surrey.
