Johnny Depp doesn't appear to be having a good time of it lately.

According to this report, he is now taking legal action against his (I assume former) business advisers, after finding himself more than $40m in debt and having sold significant assets.

We often read about wealthy people losing a lot of money because they trust the wrong people.

In the case of Johnny Depp, there might be an important lesson here about delegation.

Working with a professional adviser, especially when you have Hollywood A-List levels of wealth, is often valuable and necessary.

But whilst you should delegate the actions, you should never delegate responsibility for what is happening.

Appoint an adviser by all means, but make the time to stay on top of your personal wealth and understand all of the decisions they are making on your behalf.
